UHelp is a community help technology and social platform that connects people and organizations so they can give and receive Help. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have.
This policy applies to the UHelp website and services at uhelp.network. It does not apply to third-party services you may use alongside UHelp (for example, your bank or payment provider), which are governed by their own policies.
UHelp is operated by ImpactLife Community Support Foundation, an Incorporated Trustee registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of Nigeria. Where UHelp determines the purposes and means of processing personal information, the Foundation is the responsible data controller.
Technology development and management services for UHelp are provided by Tetragalaxy Technologies LTD, which may process information on behalf of the Foundation where applicable, subject to appropriate privacy and security requirements.
You can contact us about privacy matters at support@uhelp.network.
We collect information in three ways: information you give us, information created by your activity, and limited technical information needed to run and secure the service.
To create an account you provide an email address, username, display name, date of birth, and password. Your profile can include a bio, location, avatar, and cover image. Your email and date of birth are not public. Your public profile fields (username, display name, bio, avatar, and general location) may be visible to other members and — if your profile visibility setting allows — to visitors who are not signed in.
UHelp is for adults aged 18 and over. We collect your date of birth to confirm you are old enough to use UHelp. It is stored securely and is never displayed publicly.
When you create a Give Help or Need Help post, respond to one, are selected for Help, or send or confirm Help, we process the related records: the post content, responses, selections, completion records, and confirmation outcomes. These records keep Help coordinated and auditable for the participants involved.
For CASH Help, a recipient may add a Receiving Account (a bank account or crypto wallet) to receive funds. Receiving Account details are stored with encryption at rest, are never displayed publicly, and are disclosed only to the authorized giver or helper inside an eligible CASH Help workflow, and only for the purpose of completing that Help.
KIND Help does not disclose any Receiving Account. UHelp does not store or process payment card information and does not process the underlying money transfer — ordinary CASH Help is sent directly between participants through their own banks, wallets, or payment providers.
Organizations are first-class UHelp identities. We process the organization's public profile information, its Help activity, and records of which members are authorized to manage it. Organization management information (roles, settings, internal details) is not public. An organization's public profile may be visible to visitors while it is active.
Regular Community Posts, replies, likes, saves, and reposts are visible to signed-in UHelp members according to their visibility settings. Content set to a members-only visibility is not shown to the public.
Help Stories can be published as public or members-only. A story may describe or show another person — for example a beneficiary of Help. When you share a story that identifies someone else, you confirm you have their permission or another lawful basis to share that information. If you are described in a story and have concerns, you can report it or contact us.
UHelp messaging connects members through message requests and accepted conversations, including organization-managed conversations. Messages are private between participants and are not displayed publicly. We may review reported messages where needed for safety, moderation, or legal purposes.
You can provide a general location (such as a city or area) to help connect Help locally. We do not require precise location. The location on your profile, posts, or stories is shown according to the visibility you choose.
Photos, documents, and other media you upload are stored securely and shown according to the visibility of the content or profile they belong to. Members-only media is not served to the public. Private media (such as help-post attachments visible only to eligible participants) is served through time-limited authorized links rather than public URLs.
Verification may be required under UHelp policy — for example, for receiving eligibility above a configured threshold. If you submit verification, we collect the information and evidence you provide (such as your name, document details, and document/selfie images). Verification submissions are private: they are reviewed through our internal admin workflow and are never displayed publicly. A verification status or badge may be visible as a trust signal, but the underlying evidence is not.
UHelp computes credibility from eligible, confirmed Help a member or organization has given, and keeps associated impact history. These signals are derived from Help records, not from purchases or financial assessments, and they do not certify identity, honesty, or safety.
When a giver or helper marks Help as sent or provided, we record the recipient's confirmation, dispute, or non-response, plus reminder delivery. Where Help stays unresolved, eligible participants may open a Resolution case; we process the case, messages, and evidence needed to administer it. Resolution records are retained for integrity and audit purposes.
When you contact Support — including the Support Center or our assistant — we process your request, attachments, and our responses so we can help you and improve support quality.
When you report content or a member, we process the report, the reported material, and related context so moderators can review it. Reports are not shown to the reported person with your identity attached. Blocking hides interaction between you and the blocked member. Moderation actions are logged for accountability.
Eligible content may receive qualified view counts. For signed-in members a view is associated with the member identity for deduplication; for visitors it is associated with a random guest token stored in the visitor's own browser. We do not store visitor IP addresses or device fingerprints for view counting, and we do not provide creators with a list of who viewed their content. We also keep security and operational logs used to protect the service.
UHelp currently uses only necessary cookies and storage — for example, authentication session cookies that keep you signed in and protect your account, and small local-storage items such as the anonymous guest-view token described above. We do not currently run advertising or third-party marketing/analytics trackers on UHelp. If that changes, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for consent before enabling them.
Depending on the activity, we rely on different lawful bases under applicable data protection law — including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. Not everything relies on consent:
We share information only as described in this policy: when you choose a public or members-only visibility; when a workflow requires it (for example, Receiving Account details disclosed to the authorized giver in an eligible CASH Help); with service providers who process it for us; when required by law, regulation, or legal process; or to protect the safety, rights, or integrity of members, UHelp, or the public. We do not sell your personal information.
We use carefully selected providers for infrastructure, hosting, database, storage, authentication, transactional email, security, and monitoring. They process information under appropriate safeguards and only for the services they provide. Technology development and management for UHelp is provided by Tetragalaxy Technologies LTD under the direction of ImpactLife Community Support Foundation.
Visitors who are not signed in may discover only genuinely public information: public member profiles (unless the member has hidden their profile), active organization profiles, and content published at public visibility. Members-only content, hidden or deactivated profiles and organizations, messages, Receiving Account details, verification evidence, Support and Resolution records, and private settings are never included.
Our normal V1 retention periods are:
These are normal periods, not a guarantee that every record disappears at the exact moment a period ends. Legal holds, disputes, fraud or security investigations, Resolution, and regulatory or legal requirements can justify longer retention. We do not keep sensitive information indefinitely "just in case."
You can request account deletion in Settings. Your account enters a 30-day deletion-pending period during which you can cancel. After that period your account is anonymized: your profile becomes a neutral deleted identity, Receiving Accounts and verification evidence are removed, and sign-in is permanently disabled. Minimized records needed for Help integrity, security, audit, Resolution, or legal reasons may remain — without your personal identity attached.
Subject to applicable law and its exceptions, you may have rights including: access to your personal information; correction of inaccurate information; deletion or erasure; restriction of processing; objection to certain processing; withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent; data portability where applicable; the right to complain to a competent data-protection authority; and rights concerning applicable automated decision-making where relevant. These rights are not absolute — legal exceptions apply.
Contact us at support@uhelp.network. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We will respond within the periods required by applicable law and aim to acknowledge requests promptly.
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information, including encryption of sensitive stored data (such as Receiving Account details), access controls, and row-level security in our database. No online service can guarantee absolute security; you should also protect your own credentials.
UHelp is operated from Nigeria, but the infrastructure providers we use may process or store information in other countries. Where personal information is transferred internationally, we use appropriate safeguards as required by applicable law.
UHelp is intended only for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and accounts found to belong to minors will be closed.
Please contact us first at support@uhelp.network so we can try to resolve your concern. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) where applicable. The NDPC, not UHelp, decides the outcome of such complaints.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy with an updated "Last updated" date, and where a change is material we will take appropriate steps to inform members — which may include asking you to acknowledge the updated policy.
